July 5th 2008
Sorry it has taken so long to update our site.
Well Tuesday July 5th started off to be a great night for racing and a warm one at that. Dennis & Darrell went out in the first warm up session to set their cars up, in the end Dennis was setting 19th in the time sheets and Darrell was sitting 42nd out of 49.
They decided to check a few things over and found a couple things that needed to be repaired on both cars. After the repairs were complete, they both went out and qualified in the respectful paces that they have been qualifying. Dennis 21st and Darrell 27th. Dennis dropped a couple from the previous warm ups at 22.3 sec. but that is what we expected. And Darrell picked up over a second on his time to qualify at 22.6 sec.
In the heat races Dennis went out starting in the 5th spot and finished 6th out of 12 competitors. Darrell went out in the 3rd heat and started 3rd. Right away Darrell took the lead and lead for another 2 laps before giving way to Mike Speet and ended the race 3rd after getting passed by Chris McKinley and ending in third.
Now for the features Dennis and Darrell both decided to take it easy and just wanted to finish the features.
Dennis started 21st in the “A” main for the Burnips 4 cylinder division. proceeded to climb to high as the 11th position before he started to feel something wrong with a tire and fell back to the 17th position racing with Jerry Sheppard and Steve Root for the remainder of the race. Ryan Hamm took home the victory in the A main.
Darrell qualified 3rd quick time for “B” main for the Burnips 4 cylinder division, and so he was slated to start 10th beside the 626 of Brandon Oliver. When the Green Flag dropped for the feature Brandon & Darrell started working their way forward and by the 5th lap Darrell got a little tangled up with Brandon with Brandon falling behind Darrell, that is when Darrell starting working his way to the front and by lap 9 he was in 4th. That is when the 1st caution fell for Brandon Lessert. When then the field went green again Bob Hults was leading the pack and never looked back. Darrell ended up 2nd at the races end after racing with the 07 of Jason Emanouil and the 19 of Ben Kleis for the final 5 laps, with Bob Hults taking the win for his first victory of his career.
